We are all constantly impacted in one way or another by the power of words. From advertisements to novels, speeches and song lyrics – whether good or bad, we experience words every day that affect us. Today, there are so many talented people around the world using words to push for change. One of them is Kuala Lumpur’s text-based artist Trina Teoh, who we are lucky enough to interview in this week’s issue. We also have a feature on why gossiping can actually be good for us (which I was pleased to learn!), along with a piece that asks: are AI chatbots the future of mental health care?

As a songwriter, I’m always inspired by artists who use words as their medium, so here I’m spotlighting five of my favourite spoken-word poets…
